Unless you live there, its easy to forget the devastation that Hurricane Katrine and others have caused in the Gulf region of the US. That’s why its so cool that MusicRising is still working to help the region recover and rebuild itself. It has determined to:

rebuild the musical heart and culture of the Gulf region by replacing the musical instruments and gear that were lost in the Inundation of 2005.

They are currently working to give instruments to churches and schools in this region.

But here is the really cool part! Tons of musicians and film stars and other celebrities are helping to raise funds. For example - how would you like to own Brittany Spear’s iPod - that she signed?

Well, you can”t - its just been auctioned off by MusicRising for $851!

But there are plenty of other celebrity iPods going to be auctioned off over the coming months. Currently you can bid on iPods owned and signed by famous designers: Alice Temperley (London-based fashion designer and creator of Temperly) , Donna Karan (fashion designer and the creator of the DKNY), Marc Ecko (founder of the Marc Ecko clothing line) and Marc Jacobs ( artistic director for Louis Vuitton).

Instant Youtube on iPod - Well, almost!

Youtube has many fans. Two on the iPodbomb team are what you would call real fanatics! So it was great to find a relief to find a way for them to watch YouTube on their own time on their iPods!! Because we found some great free software that downloads and convert YouTube videos for iPod viewing in a one-click operation: Tooble!

Tooble is not new - but we realized that we had not done a post on this neat bit of software and decided is was overdue for sharing. Its basically click, click watch - as the following really short video shows:

Lets face it, the free stuff is bait - mighty attractive bait - but bait it is! Because in order to get it, we have to sign up for membership and then remember to cancel our subscription before the free trial ends (otherwise we get charged). Now, if we were sure that we could take the bait and not get hooked, then I think most of us would take the bait!!

Anyway, that’s my reason for avoiding free trials. What’s your?

How to watch your favorite movies on your iPod for free!

This is the best guide to converting DVDs for use on your iPod that we have found. Its pretty easy to follow. Now it does take time to download the video - so best to set it up for overnight download. If you are a commuter, this is a great way to ease the long boring ride!

Ipod Music album has been banned from some sites!

On a different note… a very different note, it seems - we have the excitement of an MP3 download-only album getting banned from some sites! (eg Lala.com) In fact, this album is proving so controversial that it is difficult to get. For example at iTunes and Amazon you can only get the first half of the album whilst at Shockhound and Rhapsody you can only get the second half!

So does that mean that iTunes and Amazon are cool with the first half whilst Shockhound and Rhapsody aren’t (and visa versa?) Weird! You may be wondering what album has caused all this upset? Well, its CalPOP’s latest album: Best Record in the World.

But there is nothing like controversy to get an album good press. I know we had to go check it out! Can’t see what all the fuss is about, to be honest. Maybe its the song that has the words “homework sucks” ! Get all the parents bothered perhaps? But according to some reports its more that

it has frequencies of sound adults can’t hear, and it seems to have several languages going on with hidden messages
