iPod - a Weapon of mass destruction?

Interestingly, two reports hit the airways today that reveal that iPods are now considered an essential ingredient in the war on (and by) terrorists!

From the BBC UK came the report of a man jailed today over terrorism charges. In his posession was:

a document or record containing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

How does this relate to iPods? Well, apparently part of the “strong evidence” collected was an iPod!!

Now this might sound nuts - except that coincidentally, Newsweek also reported today on the growing importance of the iPod Touch as “an electronic handheld device”, for the military in Baghdad. Aparently this sophisitcated piece of equipment has actually outsmarted current military devices - cheaper by more than 50% and better! Apparently we can now include “making sense of the reams of data from satellites, drones and ground sensors” as part of its capabilities.

And as you can see from the above image - todays reports are not the first linking iPods to military use.

Makes the name of our blog take on a whole new meaning!

Free TV Shows for iPod

If you can be bothered to do the searching, there are several dozen free TV shows that are available on iTunes for iPod. Not all will be to your taste! But here are a few to show you (the best?) that is currently on offer on US iTunes.

Highlander - The Gathering - Sci-Fi/Fantasy
General Hospital: Night Shift - The Heartbreak Survival Guide - Drama
General Hospital: Night Shift - Moving In - Drama
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Welcome to iTunes - Animation<
Ice Road Truckers - Road to Season 2 - Reality TV
Comedy Central Stand-Up - Comedy Central Presents: Stand-Up Hot

In most of these cases there is just the one free episode and the rest cost $$. But, there are quite a few feebies to take advantage of. iTunes is not set up for easy searching - though some media is easier to find that others (Apps are reasonably easy to search through, for example - not much use for non-Touch iPods, though!)

iPod Now A Part Of The Royal Treasure!

OK - I know, you know! But how can it not be repeated? President Obama gave the Queen an iPod as a royal gift during his visit to London for the G20 Summit. An iPod! Wow! That elevates our little device to Royal Status.

The iPod contained an video of her visit to Virginia, Washington, in 2007. Which was cool because in return they got a signed photograph of the royal couple. So that worked out - as everyone seems to agree that the important thing is to have images of the royal couple as part of the gift!
