Free iPod Games Demos

Posted on Feb 04, 2010 under free downloads, ipod games | No Comment

Unlike the great selection of free games available for iPod Touch, the games on offer for the non-Touch iPods cost $$$.

Worse still, there are only about 50 games to choose from. And all except two of them (Reversi and Chinese Checkers that cost $.99) cost $4.99 - at least, in the US.  And to add insult to injury, it is quite hard to find these games in iTunes. (To save you the aggravation, the iPodbomb team have provided  iTunes link for you).

But, lets face it, these $$ games are no comparison with even the free games on offer for the Touch. It just ain’t fair!!

Well, we have something to ease the pain a little. Thirteen of the non-Touch iPod games are made by Electronic Arts (yep, one of the game developers invited by Apple to preview a game on the about-to-be released iPad). Electronic Arts (Mobile) have kindly provided free iPod Game demos of their games. Which means we can trial these games before we shell out $$ just to find we hate the game! Just download the free demo player, choose the game you want to try out - and play!

iPod Music, Movies and Games on Sale?

Posted on Nov 26, 2009 under free ipod downloads, ipod movies | No Comment

Wherever in the world you are located, if you check the Apple site you will see something like: iPhone download specials

iPod Downloads special

iPhone download specials

According to some observers, Apple is planning a big cut in prices for some of its gooodies. But, another report reminds us that:

Last year UK bargain hunters got £80 off a 20-inch Imac and a “you’ve dragged me all the way to the shops for this?!” £5 off an Ipod.

So whilst it might just be worth a look, we suggest you don’t get too excited, yet! And it is not at all clear whether Apps, or Music or Movies and other iPod downloads will be included in the sale.

Which iPod is best for iPod Movies?

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 under ipod accessories, ipod movies | 1 Comment

Product DetailsWell the quick answer is NOT the new iPod shuffle, lol! While the shuffle may well end up being the first MP3 player the size of an ear bud (no prizes for guessing why we chose that analogy!), which will then mean, no doubt, that it stops being the cheapest as well, it is blind!

And being blind means it can’t do all the great things that the other iPods can do - and in fact is not really an iPod, in our book!

What’s more, “real” iPods just got way better - at least for one model. And that has inspired this post. Because the iPod Touch can now get updated with the latest iPhone software. Which, according to Apple, means:

When you get the new iPhone 3.0 Software Update for iPod touch, you get new features that make watching video, playing games, and listening to music even more fun.

See what we mean? The thing about the Touch is that it allows us to be a part of  the apps revolution that is going on at iTunes, and hundreds of great apps are free. Now, admitedly, that access does come at a cost!

Product DetailsProduct DetailsFor example, we can get the latest Apple iPod Classic 120 GB model for around $225. Or we can get the latest model Apple iPod Nano 16 GB for around $175.  But the latest iPod Touch 16 GB will set us back for around $275 and the 32 GB costs around $380!

So it costs more - and has way less memory that the Classic does.  What’s more, the software upgrade is NOT free! We have to shell out another ten bucks for it.  So the question is - is it worth it to get a Touch? Is it worth the loss of memory and the extra $$ to get the sweeter  software and bigger screen size?

Well, how big are you pockets? How long is your travel time? How good is your eye sight? We think there is no contest but know plenty of people we can’t even give a Touch to as they like their compact iPods just fine. So, while we give the prize to the Touch - because the new software will allow it to download movies and TV shows over Wi-Fi from the iTunes Store, we admit that music lovers will not agree. But they might - just - be interested in the new software benefit that enables us to listen to music wirelessly using bluetooth headphones.

For those that are interested, you can get the new iPhone software for the iPod Touch from the Apple site.

Legal Free Music Downloads for iPods

Posted on Jul 20, 2009 under free ipod downloads, iPod Music | No Comment

Well, if you check around our blog you will find stacks of ways to get free music, free movies and even free games for iPods.

Legal Free Music Downloads for iPodsOur latest, newest …drum roll… bestest method of getting legal free music downloads for our iPods - is perhaps the best yet!

Because what it does is troll over 2000 internet radio stations for whatever music we want and then download it for us!! For free! And its all legal! And it only just takes about 25 seconds to find them!

You can download Radiotracker FREE from this link!

AND worth sharing with all our friends - we have, that’s for sure! And they have all loved it! Best thing since all the free download sites got shut down by Apple!!

Now what we are looking for is a software that does this for movies - because everyone here reckons they are just too expensive on iTunes! And while we have reviewed some great software that allows us to copy DVDs - what we wanna find is software that copies movies and/or TV shows from any site. We’ll keep you posted.

Become an Operation Planet Savers and win an iPod !

Posted on Jun 19, 2009 under free iPod stuff | No Comment

Sometimes the world is much more fun for kids. This contest is really for kids - but hey, if you are young at heart there is nothing to stop you from getting in there and having fun with this.

OPS (Operation Planet Savers) is a FREE four week game (June 1-June 28, 2009) that has been developed by humangames.com to sync with the new Disney movie G-Force which will premier on July

POS allows kids (and the young at heart) to be get selected to win prizes (including the iPod Nano)

G-Force 3D

By registering to become an “Agent” you can opt for missions that will challenge you to do physical and mental task that earn “virtual prizes”.  Every time you complete a mission you can earn points. These virtual points can be used, for example,  to “unlock” sneak peek movie clips.

Also, you have the chance to be featured as the Agent of the Week (might be embarrassing if you are over 10 though)! On the other hand, each week  iPod nanos are randomly rewarded to 3 lucky agents. So may be worth the embarrassment after all? Just so you know what you might be up for - here is a sample mission:

mission is worth 200 points and takes 8 minutes:

Run the pattern 8 as many times as you can in 8 minutes.  Think it sounds easy?  If you try to run a smaller pattern, it will get harder to maintain the pattern for long periods of time (be careful, this may make you dizzy).  Run the pattern larger and it will just lessen the amount of times you can actually do.

To help you get the hang of this, humangames has provided a video of the first agent of the week:

Good Luck POS Agents all.

Posted on Mar 26, 2009 under free ipod downloads | No Comment

zune-spacer1.jpgIGF (Independant Games Festival) ran the first-ever IGF Mobile competition in 2007 (a contest set up to promote innovation in portable games) and it was a huge success. They ran it again in 2008 - with winners announced yesterday at the Independent Games Festival Mobile Award Ceremony at the IGF pavilion.

These winners were selected from a huge 105 entries that had developed games for a wide selection of platforms - from mobile phone handsets (such as the iPhone), to PDAs, and handheld game consoles including the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS.

And the winners were nearly all for games developed for iPod/iPhones!

iPod Games released in 2008

Posted on Dec 31, 2008 under ipod games | 1 Comment

iPod Touch Game ToppleThere are now over 800 games listed in iTunes that are compatible with the iPod Touch. And whilst any one game that is listed there has a good rap, the overall listings are not really that user friendly. Unless we are happy to browse through all 800+ games, finding good ones is a bit hit and miss. So we are going to organize the games into a more user friendly format.

Check back over the next few posts to find out the best free iPod Touch games, the most popular in different price brackets, and the latest game releases.

In this post we are reviewing all the iPod games that were released in 2008 in iTunes for iPod Nanos (3rd and 4th generation) iPod classic and iPod (5th generation) ONLY! These games are NOT compatible with iPod Touch. Check out the table to see which games were given top ratings by users and which ones really bombed out!

iPod Games released in 2008

Unfortunately, while there have been many free games released for iPod Touch (riding on the back of the iPhone madness, no doubt!) other iPod models have not been so fortunate. The best offers (via iTunes) have been the two shown in the table for 99cents, with Reversi being one of the top rated games. Most games released for iPods cost $5.99. So it sure helps to know which ones are not worth the $$!
