The independent record company, Chocolate Labs Records,  signed Jon Lindsay in May of 2010. They are planning to release his new album, Escape From Plaza-Midwood on August 17, 2010.

As part of the pre-release promo fan fair, they are giving away a free as-yet unreleased MP3 from Jon Lindsay and running a twitter contest.

They have set three “milestones”:

1) When there are 500 followers they will give away  10 Escape From Plaza-Midwood albums for download.

2) When there are 1000 followers they will give away another  10) Escape From Plaza-Midwood album for downloads,  5 Escape From Plaza-Midwood CDs and 1 autographed test pressing of the Coping Strategies 7?. There are only test pressings in existence!

3) When there are 2500 followers they will give away another 10 Escape From Plaza-Midwood album for download, 5 Escape From Plaza-Midwood CDs and 5 Coping Strategies 7 records. 

PLUS, if they get 2500 followers by August 17, a custom engraved iPod Nano 8 gig preloaded with Escape From Plaza-Midwood and a 20 song playlist hand picked by Jon Lindsay, will be included as a prize for one lucky tweeter!

All we have to do is twitter the message:

Some Lovely Free Songs For Your iPod, Today.

Here are some really quality songs on offer for free download to play on your iPod. Plus a couple of music videos of some of the artists so that you can appreciate the quality of the music we are telling you about.

Very happy to be able to share these great finds with our readers. Depending on your preferences you may download only some - or, if you just like quality music, then get them all. No need to sign up for any of these!

Starbucks have just announced a promotion for their new “Frappucinno” brand to give away ten free songs from iTunes!

The songs are from popular bands - so its a great give away. Its simple as well. Just go to the iTunes store, select “redeem”, enter the code and the songs start downloading straight away!

The bands that are on the “album, include:  Macy Gray - “Kissed It“; Hot Chip - “One Life Stand“; Goldfrapp - “Rocket“; Yoav - “Greed“; Frightened Rabbit - “Nothing Like You“; Shout Out Louds - “Walls“; Wintersleep - “New Inheritors“;  The Bamboos - “On The Sly“;  Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - “Bad Blood“;   Wye Oak - “My Creator“.

Here’s Where To Get Thousands Of LEGAL Free Music For Your iPod!

Some of the best known musicians today were discovered by releasing their music - free - on YouTube. But YouTube is hard to navigate and finding great music there is just plain hard work these days.

But all is not lost, because, Soundclick offers a fantastic venue for musicians to show off their music for us - and there are literally tens of thousands of free Mp3 tracks on offer there. The trick is knowing how to navigate the site to find the free music to download to our iPods (they are made available under creative commons license so it is absolutely legal to download them for free)

As you can see in the image, there are over 400,000 free MP3s on offer for download to our iPods - in a wide range of genres. Below is a sample from the “Rock” genre (artist is Code Shred):

Unusual Free Downloads for our iPods.

Some time ago we posted about a neat free guide that could be downloaded to our iPods - a guide to Glacier National Park - with over 110 pages and 60 photos. We notice that the guide is now selling for $.99 but the developers have another  free guide on offer now .

They have a handy new “Notescast” (the format they use) covering the 11 most popular hikes in Yosemite Valley. It comes complete with photos. You can download it for free from this link.

There are some other free downloads from TimeStream that could be of interest to a wide audience (because they are so very different) read 10 enchanting stories from Grimm’s Fairy Tales on your iPod wherever you go!

Plus we can download - for free -  Lewis Carol’s, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and in a wildly different genre, there is even  “Rubber to the Road” with 44 Classic Portland (OR) cycling routes -including interactive text with route descriptions and some 240 Photos.

Free iPod Music For Babies

Saw this cute pic of this iPod lovin’ baby and the iPodBomb team got inspired take a look and see what we could find to keep the bubs of the world happy!

And we reckon there is a good bit of free iPod Music to keep any iPod-baby happily not crying for hours!

First up we reckon that freekidsmusic have a great selection of free MP3 music  just for littlies.

On the landing page you will see a half a dozen or so new albums. And in the right side column you will see that you can check out all the free music alphabetically (though to be honest, we did not know any of the likely baby stars, so we just browsed at random).

Just right click on the song you want to download, and select “save link as” in Firefox or “save target as” in IE.

When you click on “download” you will get a box opening that gives you the option to open with iTunes. Select that option: Then the songs will be in your iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPod!

So whether you are  an aunt or an uncle, find yourself baby sitting from time to time or even have a baby of your own. Let us know which free this free iPod baby music makes your baby a fan! Free Romance Music For iPods

With Valentine’s day the next big event on our calendars it seems a good time to share our find of free romantic music. Jerry Pippin - a radio announcer from yesteryear - has recreated this special programs dedicated to romance - the old fashioned way!

Jerry Pippin - who seems to be a real character - has put together Jerry Pippin’s Words and Music of Love - A Sentimental Journey on the Street of Dreams. Have a listen to some sweet music.

He has also kindly provided an easy  guide to help us download the music to our iPods. But be warned - the instructions only work if you are using IE - annoyingly, Firefox does not let us do this!

If you scroll down you will see that Jerry has several podcasts on this page that we can download - amounting to a coupe of hours of the kind of music that’s hard to find these days. Real classics, real romance!

Free iPod Christmas Music

The University of Utah Singers are generously providing their beautifully sung Christmas carols for free for Christams!Don’t know who they are? Check out this video for a wonderful preview.

To get the free MP3 Christmas Carols, just go to iTunes and type “chirstmas” in the search bar. That will take you to a results page with a range of music to buy. But if you scroll to the bottom of this page you will find a list of free MP3s that you can download. Just click on “provider” so that all the University of Utah Singers’  songs are grouped together. That way you can easily see the different songs on offer. Click “get” and the University of Utah Singers’ downloads will go straight into iTunesU in your library. They have given us eight gorgeous carols: The Twelve Days of Christmas, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Love Came Down At Christmas, ?Twas the Night Before Christmas,  We Need a Little Christmas (Mame), Were You There on That Christmas Night?, Sing We Now of Christmas, The Secret of Christmas.

If you love beautiful choir music, then this is a very special opportunity. If you prefer the more pop version of Christamas - we know where you can get 25 free Christmas songs by artists like Lady Gaga, Sixpence none the Richer, and Tori Amos among others. More about those in our next post!
