 iTunesU sometimes has some pretty neat free stuff - music, videos and podcasts mainly. But well worth checking out from time to time as so e of the universities that supply free downloads for iPods have a big budget and produce some quality stuff. We have done many posts telling you all about some great free podacsts in the past. But the iTuneU offers some excellent free iPod videos.

Twitter has become a super cool marketing-tool for lots of celebs and others to get the news of their latest album, show or whatever “virally” spread around ASAP. And, because its a small but valued nugget of goodies, the iPod is often the reward on offer for spreading the news.

How To Win Fame, Good Looks - and a Free iPod!

Perfect-Results are running a fun look-a-like contest with iPods as prizes.

They are asking us to show them our “Perfect Celebrity Style!” - their hook?

Become an Operation Planet Savers and win an iPod !

Sometimes the world is much more fun for kids. This contest is really for kids - but hey, if you are young at heart there is nothing to stop you from getting in there and having fun with this.

OPS (Operation Planet Savers) is a FREE four week game (June 1-June 28, 2009) that has been developed by humangames.com to sync with the new Disney movie G-Force which will premier on July

How To Get Free Movies and TV SHows on Our iPods

This afternoon I put two episodes of my favorite TV show on my iPod to watch while I am traveling tomorrow. Hmm - that sounds like it took all afternoon. When actually - using the best software I have used in a very long time  - it took but moments. In know - I should do a commercial on it or something!

But I admit I’m pretty chuffed about it. Like four clicks and the shows were on my iPod. It was that easy to use and that fast.

Now, I did have the video files already on my computer (I’ll explain how I got them in my next post). And using this free TransferMy Videosoftware, it was a case of clicking ‘browse’ to find the video file, clicking on the image provided to choose iPod, clicking ’start converting’, and a few minutes later - iTunes opened and the video was ready to be synced to my iPod. It was GREAT! And it was free!!

Now, I admit, the free version does have a watermark in the middle of the screen - which can be annoying. But if it bothers you, then its real cheap software and well worth getting. AND I found a promo for it - only works for the next couple of days - but I’m gonna get it and I thought I’d post it here for anyone else who might be interested.

However, there is some extra information provided elsewhere that indicates that this survey is for a worthy cause - so we decided to include it. The survey results are needed for a conference in May, so assume the contest ends sometime before then!

14) Like we say, everyone is getting into the action. This one will appeal to the Twits among you. You are invited to show how much your city cares about renewable energy by cheering for it on twitter. Everyone who cheers gets automatically registered to win an iPod touch.

For the creative among you:

15) A bit more work required to win an iPod Touch by this method - but that will probably mean that you have better odds as fewer people will enter. And if you are any good at making videos and are musical to boot - well, it will be a synch! Expotv want you to make a video review of Liz Scott’s new single ‘Angel’ (the “Video”). When you submit it, and you will automatically be entered into the Contest. Contest ends 11:59:59 p.m. EST on April 12, 2009 and is only open to US residents.

16) Not to be outdone, UK residents have a nifty contest that requires creative talent. Enter the ‘Barnet in Focus‘ photo competition by Friday 1 May 2009 and you will be entered in the draw to win an iPod Touch. The promoters are after see eye-catching, good quality photos of people (not under 16), places and events in Barnet - so you will have to go there folks!

Really, the advantage of these contests is that they require so much work that only a few people will probably have a real go at them. So, if you are keen….

Free iPods? - Come And Get Them

How much do you love iPods? Well it seems as if iPods are so popular that they have become a favorite prize on offer for competitions.

So popular, in fact, that even the competition is giving them away as an incentive to get people to try their products! In an amazing twist, Microsoft is offering free iPods as their prize:

There are quite a few sites that feature this nifty free converter. and it is also reviewed at download.com (51 user opinions).

But the best site, in my book, is dvdvideosoft.com as it takes us through the process of how to install and use the software - including images of each step. And it don’t come easier than that

But why, you may ask, would you WANT to watch youtube on your iPod? Well there any number of reasons (please feel free to suggest some in the comments) But a friend of mine likes to trick the unwary into watching some gruesome video clip or other and finds great success getting others to look at something on his iPod (Most of his friends have been tricked at one time or another and now refuse to watch any youtube link he sends us!!)
