Would You Like A Flash-ier iPod?
Posted on Feb 12, 2010 under ipod software |
The latest news flash from around the web is that (according to Adobe) over 7 million iPhone and iPad users requested the Adobe Flash download in December!
Now, the lack of flash on our smart tech devices from Apple, has been a sore point for many. And so Adobe is kinda rubbing Apples’ nose in it when it reports these figures: “Hey guys, there is clearly a BIG demand for flash”
Apple are way too market savvy NOT to know that there are a LOT of people who would like to have flash capabilities installed inside the iPhone and iPod operating software. So why have they resisted? Well, various reasons have been proposed:
* because it needed to establish its own Apple-controlled iPhone SDK
* to lower the chances of users using the app store, thus lowering Apple’s revenues.
* Flash crashes so often that Apple’s engineers went out of their way to create a new mechanism for running plugins
This is a subject dear to the hearts of many a techy. But do we iPod users care? Is it such a big deal for us? Do we evden know what difference it would make to what we can do, or listen to or watch on our iPods?
We thought we would just ask!
